June 2004
Dear Friends and Sangha Members,
The Burmese meditation master, Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw (from Pa Auk Tawya Monastery near Mawlamyine, Myanmar) is coming to California in 2005. He will lead a 2-month meditation retreat from April to June. Sisters Dipankara and Susila will accompany Sayadaw. Both nuns will offer teachings, as well.
This retreat will focus on the development of strong and powerful concentration (jhanas), as the foundation for the deep Vipassana practice that Sayadaw teaches when the meditator is sufficiently concentrated. The retreat will be limited to 40 yogis. It is expected to fill quickly.
If you are interested in attending and would like to be put on the list to receive an application, please email Kim McLaughlin at kimmcl@pacbell.net. (Do not send a 'REPLY' to the address from which you received this email message.) There will be slots reserved for people who can attend for one month only. We would like to direct you to our new web site: www.paauk.org Please let us know if you want your name added to the email list for announcements of upcoming events or classes in the Pa Auk system.
May all beings be liberated.
Wishing you peace, Kim McLaughlin
